Cargo catches fire next to plane in Hong Kong

An American Airlines aircraft was being loaded at Hong Kong airport when a container loader suffered a malfunction causing a fire to erupted, eventually engulfing a cargo container.
A spokesman for American Airlines said: "An external piece of loading equipment had a mechanical issue and caught fire while preparing to put cargo in the hold of their American Airlines flight 192 from Hong Kong (HKG) to Los Angeles (LAX).
Passengers looked on in horror as the fire broke out next to the plane at the airport.
According to the American Airlines website AA192, originally scheduled to take off at 6.10pm has been cancelled. Flames were seen spreading to the aircraft but the fire was put out by fire crews soon after. The male worker, 59, was injured after he jumped from the vehicle. He was taken away from the fire by colleagues before being sent North Lantau Hospital with facial and limb injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
The Airport Authority said the airlines were providing arrangements for the affected passengers.
The authority will also launch an investigation.
