Flight DL93 touched down from Los Angeles at 7:18 am today on an A350-900, showcasing Delta's 2028 Olympic Games livery. The thrice-weekly service, operating on Friday, Sunday and Wednesday, is expected to offer over 271,000 seats within three years.
The much-awaited arrival was broadcasted live by the YouTube channel Only Planes Network, in collaboration with the Brisbane Airport Corporation.
"Brisbane's addition as Delta's second Australian destination is thrilling. The presence of one of the largest global airlines underscores the city's ascent as an international hub," expressed Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff.
"We're ushering in a new era of trans-Pacific connectivity, with 31 weekly flights from North America by five airlines from four key hubs, creating extensive connections.
"This signifies a new height in tourism, commerce, and ties between Queensland and North America," he added.
The US ranks as the fifth-largest source of international visitors to Brisbane. US Consul-General Christine Elder highlighted Brisbane's status as a prime spot for tourism and commerce.
"The new Brisbane-Los Angeles flights will boost trade and connections between the U.S. and Australia," she stated.
"Brisbane serves as a portal to Australia and other Pacific destinations for numerous American travelers, with over 350,000 Australians traveling to the U.S. via L.A. annually."
