The last 747 rolls off the production line

Very sad day for us "plane crazy geeks" today (Wednesday in America) Boeing handed over its very last 747 ever. No more Queens will be made. The last one, a Boeing 747-8, went to Atlas Air as a freighter. Atlas drew a 747 with a crown to say goodbye. There were 1,574 Queens built, the very 1st one went to Pan Am on the 22nd of January 1970.

Since its first flight in 1969, the giant yet graceful 747 has served as a cargo plane, a commercial aircraft capable of carrying nearly 500 passengers, a transport for NASA’s space shuttles, and the Air Force One presidential aircraft.
