T150 Defence Force Air Show

As mentioned I travelled up from Brisbane this morning for what would be an amazing air show.
The air show took place off the Strand in Townsville and this airshow certainly pulled a huge crowd. The media were saying approximately 70,000 people turned out along the 5klm Stand.
The amazing line up included the F/A-18F Super Hornet and F/A-18A/B Hornet putting on spectacular aerial displays with their speed, power and agility.
The Air Force’s elite aerobatics team, the Roulettes, also did breathtaking displays of precision and speed in their PC-9/A aircraft.
The air show also featured favourites such as the Air Force’s C-17A Globemaster III, C-130J Hercules, KC-30A, Hawk 127, AP-3C Orion and the E-7A Wedgetail.
The CH47 Chinook and MRH90 helicopters from the 5th Aviation Regiment, who call Townsville home, also conducted flying displays as part of the Air Show.
To showcase the Air Force’s long connection with the region, historical military aircraft which operated in North Queensland like the Tiger Moth trainer, Hudson bomber, Catalina seaplane, Mustang fighter, a Neptune maritime patrol and Caribou all made appearances.
The weather was not on our side as it was extremely overcast with thick heavy clouds for hours then the sun would come out and then it would cloud over again making taking good photos difficult. I found myself adjusting the camera settings often throughout the day.
Below is the line up of the Airshow.

Mid afternoon a friend I was with got a phone call from his friend to say they were on the 4th floor of a high rise hotel if we wanted to join them, so of course we said yes.
