Cairns Departures

When I stay in Cairns I always stay at the same place, Acacia Court Hotel room 801 because not only do you get great ocean views but you can see the entire airport, runway and all. Unfortunately 801 and 701 was taken and the best I could get is 601.

The departures out of Cairns start at 5.30 am and since they fly almost right over our roof it is a great alarm clock. Below are some of the photos I took from my motel room balcony before heading off to work.

While I was sitting down on the esplanade having a beer I noticed some helicopters coming and going from the Port of Cairns on a regular bases, like every 5 mins. When I finished my beer I went over to the foreshore to get a photo of the 3-4 different helicopters that where coming and going; and as my luck would have this one departed and not one came back...
