It was only 12 hours earlier I was at the airport taking photos but today I am back for another reason, I am off to Cairns on business trip. I had a 7 am flight so I set the alarm for 5am but since I was awake at 4.15 I thought I would get up. As I left home I noticed the sky was clear and I thought this will be a great day for flying.. BUT the closer I got to the airport the worse the weather became. I arrived at the airport at 5.45 to heavy rain (go figure hey) I checked in and I was really disappointed, but not surprised, as when I made the booking I requested a business class upgrade for 10,000 points but as usual it got rejected. The QANTAS Frequent Flyer program is such a pain in the arse, they want you to join and gather points for flights etc but they don't like you using them. I cleared security and made my way to gate 18 to where my 737-838 was waiting. The aircraft this morning was VH-XZA and I was sitting in 18F.
We boarded at 6.40 am and pushed back at 6.59; We started taxiing for runway 19 at 7.04; we had a rolling start and became airborne at 7.08. As we climbed out we lost view of the ground and the city really quickly as our aircraft was enveloped in cloud, the climb was bumpy and rough but not uncomfortable. We climbed to flt lvl 380 and from there the flight was very smooth. We commenced our descent into Cairns at 8.48 and landed on runway 15 at 9.19, we taxied into gate 22.
