Maryborough Airport

Maryborough Airport (IATA: MBH, ICAO: YMYB) is located approximately 3 klm's (2 miles) north of the town centre. The airport now serves as a small regional airport serving Maryborough; Rainbow Bay and the surrounding area. Due to the upgrade of the runway at Hervey Bay Airport, a 30 min drive away (which allows for aircraft up to 737 standed), lead to a stop in commercial air traffic calling into Maryborough. The airport is primarily used now by the Maryborough Aero Club.
The airport operator is the Hervey Bay Regional Council, the airport sits at 12 metres (38 Feet) above sea level. It has two runways, the main runway 17/35 is 1,587 metres long (5,207 feet) and is asphalt; the second runway 12/30 it is 885 metres long (2,904 feet) and is grass.
The airport opened in 1930 and was owned by the City of Maryborough. In 1941 it was taken over by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), transferring to the Department of Civil Aviation in 1946 following the end of World War II. In 1982 ownership again reverted to the now Fraser Coast Regional Council.
Scheduled passenger services ceased in early 2007 so only the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Charter operators use the airport on a non-scheduled basis. This airport does not have a control tower so pilots are required to communicate via a Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) to safely co-ordinate arrivals and departures. The airport is Certified but it is not an Aviation Security Airport.
I drove around this small airport for half an hour and there were no movements at all.
