Spotting on the Gold Coast

Due to a family function we need to attend to tonight my family and I headed to the Coast last night. The apartment we are in is very nice and comfortable with lovely water views.

This morning while the family slept I got up and watch the sunrise and then headed to the Gold Coast Airport, also known as Cooly (for Coolangatta) to do some plane spotting.

I forgot to bring my ladder but it was ok because they were using runway 14 so aircraft flew in in front of me. Well it WAS ok until they changed runways and then I had to use the holes in the fence.

Kaos in the air / flights cancelled and air hostesses hospitalised

Severe wind conditions have caused havoc in the air over the last two days.

First of all; yesterday two Virgin flight attendants were hospitalised, one with a broken leg, after a Melbourne to Adelaide flight experienced severe turbulence.
Virgin flight VA233 (VH-VUE) departed Melbourne on runway 27 at 4.35pm and hit unexpected severe turbulence on its descent into Adelaide. It landed on runway 23 in Adelaide at 5.13pm Adelaide time and the male and female flight attendants were taken to hospital. No passengers were injured during this flight.

Then today up to 90 flights were cancelled in and out of Sydney Airport as strong winds buffeted the runways. With wind gusts at the airport of up to 72km/h planes were restricted to using only one runway due to the gusty conditions. The strong winds disrupted the airport for most of the day with some customers experiencing delays of around 90 minutes or more. Qantas cancelled about 35 flights while an estimated 40 Virgin flights were impacted.
The winds are forecast to persist tomorrow morning but will ease throughout the day.
Due to a backlog, domestic passengers arriving into and leaving from Sydney Airport are being urged to check their flight details with their airlines.

Sydney to Brisbane Trip

After three very busy hot days out with our new rep in Sydney it was time to head home.
My flight home was at 4.30pm so I made my way to the airport at 2.40 pm arriving there just after 3.10pm. I called into Sheps Mound (also known as Sheps Hill) for about 40 minutes before heading off to the airport.

Our flight was leaving from gate 7 today and boarding commenced at 4.06pm, I took my seat which was 17F; a bad seat at that as it was over the wing and there were no other window seats available.
The aircraft for todays flight was VH-VYB (CN 33763) I have been on this aircraft twice before, 16/2/15 in 8F and 19/12/16 11A. The last cabin door was closed at 4.27pm and push back commenced at 4.31pm. We began taxiing at 4.33 and taxied out for runway 25, the East West runway. We were 3rd in line and once we got the all clear we taxied out and got airborne at 4.44pm. We held that heading for a few minutes before banking right and flew abeam the city and on to Gosford and the Central Coast, as we continued our climb to 370 to headed for Grafton and then onto Coolangatta.
