Sunday morning spotting at Tullamarine

As previously mentioned we flew into Melbourne from Hobart arriving at 9am we had 4 hours 30 before the next flight so after securing our luggage we went in search for a good viewing window.
We actually ended up back at the Jetstar concourse where I stayed the whole time. My wife and kids went shopping for a while.

We pushed back at 1.34 and commenced taxiing at 1.37, we lined up on runway 16 and were airborne at 1.45 pm.
We climbed to Flt Lvl 360 and our track took us up abeam Wagga Wagga; west of Armidale then over Lismore before banking left just before the Gold Coast and flying over our home of Parkinson before landing on runway 01 in Brisbane at 3.33 pm.

Hobart to Melbourne

Our very short trip to Hobart had come to an end and once again we had an early start.
We had an 8 am flight to Melbourne so our day started at 5.30 am, it wasn't so bad though as daylight savings finished here over night and as we had to put our clocks back an hour before we went to bed we actually had an extra hours sleep.
After checking out of the unit and filling up the hire car with fuel we headed to the airport to check in for the first of two flights today. JQ 700 was on an Airbus A321-231 VH-VWX and this will be the first time I have been on this type of aircraft. We began boarding at 7.25am through gate 4, our seats were 28 C,D,E and F. Since we were on a stand alone bay we didn't need pushing back so we began taxiing at 7.58. We taxied out for a runway 30 departure and after backtracking we turned around and kept rolling becoming airborne at 8.04am. We climbed to flt lvl 360 and our track took us up over Launceston across Bass Strait to Inverloch. We began our descent into Melbourne at 8.38 am and landed on their cross runway of 27 right on 9.00 am.
Jetstar are a point to point airline and even though we were traveling on with them we still had to collect our luggage, and since we had 4 hours 30 here we booked our bags into a locker system and then went plane spotting.

A Saturday in Hobart

Living in Brisbane the sun comes up around 4.30am in the peak of Summer but lately it gets light around 5.40am. It was a shock to the system to see it was still dark and it was after 7am.
But that didn't stop me from venturing out to the airport for the early morning movements.
Hobart International Airport (IATA: HBA, ICAO: YMHB) is located in Cambridge, the airport is 17 km (10 miles) southeast of Hobart. The major airlines servicing the airport are Qantas Link, Jetstar Airways, Virgin Australia and Tiger Airways operating domestic flights predominantly to Melbourne and Sydney airport. Both Virgin Australia and Jetstar have a single daily direct service to and from Brisbane. Due to the airport's southern location, during the summer months Skytraders operate regular flights to Antarctica on behalf of the Australian Antarctic Division using an Airbus A319.
Hobart Airport has just one runway, 12 / 30 and it is 2,251 m by 45 m (7,385 feet by 148 feet) the airport is 4 m (13 feet) above sea level. The runway is constructed with an asphaltic concrete surface and can handle Boeing 767 and Airbus A300 aircraft. Boeing 777 / 747 aircraft can operate with a weight restriction.  The airport has a control tower and is operational from 6am (20.00 Zulu) to 10.30pm (12.30 Zulu) after that the airport is an uncontrolled airport; so pilots are required to communicate via a Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) to safely co-ordinate arrivals and departures.

Brisbane to Hobart Trip

Due to receiving some bad news about a family member my family and I jumped on a plane this morning and headed south to my home town of Hobart.
Our day started at 3.30am as we had a 6.30am flight. We left home at 4.30am and headed to the airport. After checking in and clearing security we headed to the food court to feed two young hungry stomaches. After that we went to a window so I can do some spotting before boarding.

Our Jetstar flight 759 was due to board at 6am but was delayed until 6.20am. My wife, two girls and I were in the very last row of the Airbus A320... 30 A B C and D the registration of the aircraft today was VH-VGV
We ended up having a no show on board so we had to wait for a suitcase to be found and removed from the aircraft. We finally pushed back at 6.53am and began taxiing at 6.56am. We headed out for a runway 19 Brisbane and after turning into taxiway Alpha 2 we were given a rolling start; we became air born right on 7am. We climbed to flt lvl 360 and our track took us down abeam Armidale over the top of Sydney, skimming the coastline passing over Mallacoota then across Bass Strait to Flinders Island; on to St Helens and then into Hobart.

We began our decsent at 10.06 and landed on runway 30 at 10.33am. We had to add an hour due to daylight savings.
After collecting the luggage and hire car I grabbed a few photos before heading off.
