Late last night, a friend messaged me saying there might be eight USAF Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft arriving in Amberley in the morning. After watching the final Formula One race, which wrapped up at 1 a.m. Brisbane time, I set my alarm for 5 a.m., left home at 5:30, and drove 46 kilometres to Amberley. Turns out, two C-17s went to Darwin (DRW/YPDW) while the other six landed in Amberley. I’m not sure how long they’ll be here or why they’ve come.
