Cathay Pacific sets new company record for Australia

CATHAY PACIFIC AIRBUS A330-343 B-HWM (MSN 1457)

Cathay Pacific is set for its busiest December ever in Australia, with schedules showing 369 nonstop flights throughout the month — the most in the airline’s history and nearly 20% higher than last year.
369 flights work out to be 11.9 flights everyday throughout December.

Cathay is making a big comeback, adding Adelaide back to its network for the first time since early 2020 and ramping up flights to every other Australian city it serves, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth, plus the seasonal return of Cairns from the 9th of December.

Despite dropping the A350-1000 from the market, Cathay is actually flying larger aircraft overall, averaging 323 seats per departure - its highest ever for the Christmas period. Much of the growth is driven by the 361-seat Boeing 777-300ER, now deployed more heavily across the region.

Competition is slowly rising too. Cathay's share of nonstop Hong Kong-Australia services slips from 83% to 81% this year as Hong Kong Airlines enters Sydney and prepares for Melbourne.

Even so, December 2025 marks a clear milestone. The carrier now runs more flights to Australia than at any point in the past two decades, reinforcing its position as a major long-haul player linking Hong Kong with key Australian markets.
