Emirates passengers departing on Emirates flights will face new restrictions on power banks from today the 1st of October 2025.
Under the updated rules, each traveler may carry one power bank under 100 watt-hours, but it can no longer be used to charge your phone or be charged during flight. Devices must be stored in the seat pocket or under the seat, not in overhead bins, and remain out of checked baggage.
The airline said the move aligns with international safety standards as lithium patteries continue to raise fire risks. By keeping power banks accessible, crew can respond quickly if overheating occurs.
Emirates joins a list of airlines banning power banks, airlines like, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, and China Airlines.
Other UAE carriers, including Etihad FlyDubai, and Air Arabia, have similar restrictions, though limits vary.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has urged airlines to tighten rules as lithium battery incidents rise globally.
Emirates emphasized the policy reflects its 'safety-first" approach while ensuring passengers can still travel with essential devices.
