EMIRATES AIRBUS A380-861 A6-EEP (MSN 138)

An Emirates flight from Dubai (DXB/OMDB) which was meant to land in Perth (PER/YPPH) aborted the landing and diverted to Melbourne due to extremely strong winds.

Two hours and fifty-five minutes had been added to the already ten-hour journey after the diversion when the flight landed at Melbourne Airport at 8.50pm

Looking at Flightradar24 the flight attempted to land twice before the pilot decided to go to Melbourne instead. The first attempt was at 5.30 pm local on runway 06, it aborted, climbed to 5,000 feet and circled for twenty minutes before making a second attempt, again on runway 06 at 6.02 pm.
From there it departed for Melbourne.

The Bureau of Meteorology recorded crosswind speeds of 69km/h and gusts of up to 78km/h at Perth Airport at the time.
There is currently a damaging winds advice warning for parts of the metropolitan and regional areas.
It reported wind gusts of up to 100km/h in Perth’s eastern suburbs on Friday evening.
