Passenger attempts suicide in aircraft toilet

EVA AIR AIRBUS A330-203 B-16311 (MSN 693)

An EVA flight from Thailand to the UK made an emergency landing after a passenger attempted suicide inside the plane’s bathroom, according to a report released on Monday.

EVA Air Flight BR67 from Bangkok (BKK/VTBS) to London (LHR/EGLL) was in the middle of its descent into London’s Heathrow Airport last Friday when cabin crew members realised that a passenger was still occupying the restroom.

During the plane’s descent, the man was found in the restroom where it was suspected he was trying to end his life. The person was helped by flight attendants and an on-board doctor, it is understood. It is unclear how the unidentified traveller allegedly tried to harm himself mid-flight, or what might have triggered it, but it was obvious the passenger tried to attempt suicide.

Crew members and an on-board doctor administered first aid to the passenger until the aircraft arrived at the gate.

The jet landed around 7.30pm local time and was met by medics who transported the passenger to a hospital for further treatment, according to the publication.
