American Airlines' hard landing sends 6 to hospital

An American Airlines flight from Los Angeles (LAX/KLAX) made such a hard landing at Maui's main airport, Kahului (OGG/KOGG) it sent five flight attendants and one passenger to the local hospital.

American flight AA 271 landed on runway 20 at Kahului Airport at 2.04 p.m. Saturday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, which said it was investigating. 

Neither American Airlines nor the FAA provided additional details.

The Airbus 320 was carrying 167 passengers and seven crew, according to the airlines.

No damage was reported to the aircraft at the time, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched a full investigation of the incident. The A321, carrying 167 passengers alongside seven crew members, has been removed from service pending inspection.
