Qatar Airways Named World’s Best Airline for 2021

AirlineRatings.com has released its yearly rankings of the worlds best airlines. For 2021, Qatar Airways has taken the top spot, beating Air New Zealand, 2020's winner. 

The group also released its list of top 20 airlines.

The award is based on different criteria including age of fleet, passenger reviews and product offerings. The COVID-19 pandemic has mixed things up, with AirlineRatings.com also focusing on how airlines’ responded to the pandemic.

In order to make the top 20 list, airlines need to achieve a seven star safety rating and demonstrate leadership in innovation for passenger comfort. Reviewers also look for a consistent level of service, innovation, and staff engagement from each major contender.

This year Qatar Airways was selected due to the Middle Easter carriers cabin innovation, passenger service, and its dedication and commitment to continue to operate throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.


Earlier this year our very own Qantas was named the world’s safest airline.

Along with the worlds best airline ratings, the group handed out other awards. EasyJet won best low-cost airline award for Europe, while Jetstar won in Asia/Pacific and Southwest won in the Americas.
