While visiting LA last week we called on a café we were told about, the Proud Bird Café at 11022 Aviation Blvd, Los Angeles. This place was mind blowing and an aviators dream.
There are four model planes on stands out the front of the entrance and another 10 or so on display out the back.

The Proud Bird Food Bazaar is a unique food hall with 6 culinary kitchens open for lunch and dinner. The Food Bazaar is a self-service experience where guests can visit our culinary kitchens at their leisure. The Proud Bird restaurant opened in 1967, as a salute to achievements in aviation, offering a front-row view of planes approaching LAX for landing. The restaurant was the brainchild of David Tallichet who founded Specialty Restaurants Corporation and developed a number of beloved destination restaurants across the United States. The Proud Bird name was inspired by the 1960’s Continental Airlines marketing slogan, “The Proud Bird with the Golden Tail.” Continental Airlines painted the tails of its DC-10’s gold, hoping to reinforce the airline’s image as high quality with elaborate service. Under the direction of Bob Six, Continental was one of the early builders of the U.S. aviation industry.
