A morning at Amberley Airforce Base

With Talisman Sabre in full swing now and seeing many Military photos on Facebook and Instagram, I wanted to go and have a look at these amazing aircraft myself. So yesterday I got up at 4.40am and left home at 5am for the 45 minute drive to Amberley Airforce Base. Not knowing the movements I thought they might go out early. As luck would have it nothing moved until 8am.. but I can tell you, when they started moving out, the excitement went from zero to a hundred real quick. The RAAF Base Amberley (ICAO: YAMB) is a Royal Australian Air Force military airbase located 8 km (5.0 miles) southwest of the city of Ipswich and 60 km (37 miles) southwest of Brisbane. It has two runways; 04/22 is 1,523 metres long (4,997 feet) and is asphalt and 15/33, the main runway, is 3,047 metres long (9,997 feet) and is also asphalt. It is currently home to No. 1 Squadron and No. 6 Squadron (operating the F/A-18F Super Hornet), No. 33 Squadron and No. 36 Squadron (operating the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III jet transport). Located on 1,600 hectares (4,000 acres), RAAF Amberley is the largest operational base in the RAAF, employing over 5,000 uniformed and civilian personnel.
Below are some of the 360 photos I took yesterday.
