Plane crash kills 13

A private jet carrying boxing fans has crashed in Mexico after leaving Las Vegas leaving 13 people, including several members of the same family dead. An air search located the downed plane in a remote mountainous area in the municipality of Ocampo on Monday, the Coahuila state government said in a statement. Three crew members and 10 passengers were on board at the time of the crash. 'There were no survivors seen,' officials confirmed.  The Bombardier Challenger 601 left Las Vegas (LVS/KLVS) Sunday afternoon and had been expected Sunday evening in Monterrey (MTY/MMMY), but never arrived.  Reports suggest the passengers were on the way home from watching boxer Canelo Alvarez fight Daniel Jacobs at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Local media published a photograph which appeared to show the burnt wreckage of the plane. Those on board are all thought to be Mexican, according to list of passengers and crew circulated online. It appears several of those dead are from the same family.  The plane was registered to Utah-based TVPX, listed as an insurance, customs and trust company. The company declined to comment on who was operating the plane. The aircraft appears to have lost contact Sunday evening, around two hours after take off.  Local reports say there was a strong storm in the area at the time of the crash. A Radio Centro correspondent said: 'The Secretariat of Public Security of Coahuila and authorities of Nuevo Leon have begun searches for the private Jet Bombardier Challenger 601 plane, registration N601VH, that flew from Las Vegas to Monterrey, with which contact was lost on Sunday afternoon.' Coahuila Governor Miguel Riquelme said he had ordered a search and rescue operation for the plane. He said 'we still do not know what happened' when asked if the plane had crashed.
Fernando Orta said of the state's emergency services department: 'The land is rather mountainous so they're going to take a while longer to arrive.' The aircraft was privately chartered to fly the passengers from Monterrey to Las Vegas to visit a boxing match. At 14:52 hours local time (21:52 UTC) the aircraft took off from Las Vegas on the return leg to Monterrey. Flight tracking data shows the aircraft en route at a cruising altitude of FL370. At 18:25 local time (23:25 UTC) the aircraft climbs to FL390, which is maintained for about five minutes. The aircraft then climbs towards FL410. The last ADS-B data point recorded by Flightaware is at 18:37 hours at 40,925 feet.
