Melbourne to Brisbane Trip

After four amazing days in Melbourne it was time to head home to Brisbane, but not before calling into our favourite AFL (Australian Football League) club. My two daughters and I love the Carlton Blues so we donned our Carlton guernseys and headed in the club house.

Unfortunately Carlton has been on the bottom of the ladder for the last few years, but I am confident they will come back.
From there we headed to the airport for a bit of spotting, but luck wasn't on my side today as all the morning internationals had already gone out.

Our Virgin flight was leaving at 3pm but we decided to head into the terminal early and the girls went shopping and I went spotting.

We began boarding at 2.38pm and as we boarded I noticed the registration was VH-YFJ (CN 41001), we took our seats and my wife and I were in 21A & B and our daughters were in 20 A & B. Once settled in my seat I noticed the aircraft was a Wi-Fi jet and I was very pleased, as not only could I watch our aircraft but I could listen to it too.

The last cabin door was closed at 2.56pm and we pushed back at 2.58pm. We began taxiing out for runway 16 at 3.02pm. We lined up at the holding point and as there were three in front of us we had about and a 8 minute wait. In turn we lined up and had a rolling start getting airborne at 3.13pm. Once airborne we maintained runway heading for about 2 minutes then we banked and did a 180 before setting course for Brisbane. We climbed to flight level 390 and the flight out was really smooth and comfortable.

We began our descent at 4.38pm and it was there the turbulence kicked in, our flight even diverted around weather trying to find smooth air.

Once clear of weather we made tracks to Archerfield Airport (a way point called Glenn) were we tracked down the ILS for runway 01. We touched down at 5.05pm but due to Brisbane not having daylight savings we had to put the time back 1 hour. So our official landing time was 4.05pm,
