Spotting at Melbourne airport

I was due to go to Melbourne on business this week and since today was a public holiday in Brisbane for the Brisbane EKKA (show day) I decided I would go to Melbourne a day earlier and spend the day spotting at Melbourne airport. I chose a flight a little later than normal for two reasons, 1 so I didn't have to get up at 4am and 2 the later flight was being operated by the new Boeing 787-9.
After having breakfast I went and got the morning sunrise before heading to the gate.

The flight was due to board at 6.40 and when I got to the gate at 6.38 everyone was on board already. I took my seat which was 54K and the aircraft for this trip was VH-ZNB (CN 39039) sporting the name "Waltzing Matilda".

The flight out of Brisbane and all the way down was very smooth, quite and comfortable, until it was time for our descent. As we passed 200 (20,000ft) we went into cloud and didn't come out for some time. We experience moderate to rough turbulence, then as we got lower the aircraft really got thrown around. I fly very regularly and this was no normal approach. By the time we landed, 20 minutes late, I thought I was going to be sick. My mouth watered and my stomach rumbled.. Luckily I settled down and went about my business of plane spotting.
I decided to stay in the Qantas terminal for a while and wait for the international heavies in front of me to leave.

Once they departed I thought I would try my luck up the top level car park, as I have seen many photos taken from up there. BIG MISTAKE... The wind was so strong and so cold I lasted about 15 minutes.

So I thought I would try my luck back inside the terminal, but this time I went to the Virgin terminal. Luck still wasn't being nice as the thick dirty glass wasn't making it easy for photos.
