Brisbane - Melbourne Trip

Today I had to head down to Melbourne for a few days so I thought I would do a trip report since I hadn't done one for a while. My Qantas flight was leaving at 6am and boarding was at 5.40 so I got up at 4am and headed off to the airport arriving there just before 5am. After clearing security I headed up to the Qantas Club for breakfast. Bircher Muesli, raisin toast and a coffee..
At 5.30 I starting heading down to gate 20 where our B737-838 was waiting for us after resting there overnight.

We started boarding at 5.38am and I took my seat which was 7F, the aircraft for today's flight was VH-VYI (CN 34181). The final door was closed at 5.56am and we pushed back right on 6.00am. Even though the flight was near full, I had a spare seat next to me.

We began taxiing at 6.05 but then stopped as there were a few other aircraft taxing out in front of us. We continued to taxi out to the holding point of Alpha 3, there we had to wait for a company 747 to land (Qantas 16 from L.A) and then an Alliance F28 to depart. We lined up on runway 19 at 6.14 and got airborne a minute later.

Once airborne we banked to the left and then banked back to the right and made tracks for Melbourne. Our track took us down over Tenterfield, Gunnedah, Parkes and then Tolleen.

MORNING SUNRISE REALLY SHOWING OFF THE ROO

Our cruising altitude was 380 and the flight down was very smooth and comfortable. Once over Tolleen we banked left and began our descent at 7.49am. From there we made our way towards Tullamarine.

A FOGGY START IN MELBOURNE CITY

Flying abeam the airport we tracked downwind for about 10 mile before turning 180 degrees and landing on runway 34 at 8.25am. Our company has a branch in Keilor East, a suburb just south of the airport and aircraft fly in or out over our roof all day. Today  I managed to get a photo of our business.
