This story is a few days old now but still quite scary following on from the Southwest incident. An Air India aircraft flying from Amritsar (ATQ) to Delhi (DEL) has ran into such severe turbulence that three passengers suffered injuries when the inside part of a window panel came off and some overhead oxygen masks got deployed.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner had a turbulent flight for 10 to 15 minutes, something that has puzzled authorities with the airline and aviation agencies probing the same. “The turbulence was such that the head of a seated passenger hit the overhead cabin because of a bump. That passenger suffered severe injuries, two more had minor injuries. The inside of a window panel (18-A) came off. The outside window did not break and there was no de-pressurisation. Passengers were naturally terrified,” said sources. Terrified passengers were left fearing for their lives .This latest mid-flight emergency, left many of the 240 passengers on-board in tears and praying for help. It came only days after a woman died after she was partially sucked out of another plane.

Some oxygen masks also dropped during the severe turbulent phase of the flight. The overhead panel cover of seat 12-U got cracks. “This was a freak high level turbulence. AI and Directorate General of Civil Aviation is probing it,” said a senior AI official.
The aircraft was passing through 15,000 feet at the time.
