While my family slept I got up and went down to the waterfront to hopefully watch the sun rise up out of the ocean; but due to heavy cloud on the horizon it wasnt to be. But I can tell you sitting on the rocks listening to the occasional wave crash on the beach was soothing and calming. After almost an hour there I went back and had breakfast with my girls. Since it was a beautiful day we decided to change plans and we headed up to Port Douglas and Mossman, stopping along the way to take in the view. We had a good look around "Yuppie Ville" (Port Douglas) and then heaed further north to Mossman. There we visited the markets, where the girls bought a few things, and then had lunch in a rain forest inspired cafe. I ordered a pie and chips and was really surprised to find the pie had come from Hobart, where i grew up and some 3,760 klms away.
As we walked around Mossman, one thing we did notice was the trees in the main street had ferns growing off the branches and it looked really good.
After a while we headed to the Mossman Gorge; this is real rain forest territory; the greenery was amazing and the humidity was unbearable. The scenery there was breathetaking and the water looked sensational but unfortunately we didn't have our bathers with us so we ddidn't go in.
