Qantas partner Emirates will temporarily suspend its Boeing 777 flights between Brisbane and Singapore next year in favour of jetting non-stop between the Queensland capital and Dubai.
Between May 9 and September 29 2016, EK433 – which normally routes as Brisbane-Singapore-Dubai – is pushed back from a 2:30am departure to a 5am take-off sans Singapore stop, arriving straight into Dubai at 1:20pm.
On the return, EK432 leaves Dubai at 2:45am, reaching Brisbane at 10:30pm local time: again as a non-stop flight.
According to Emirates, this revised schedule “allows for necessary runway construction works in Brisbane… as the (flight’s usual) arrival and departure times fall during the planned overnight runway closures.”
“Emirates will resume services between Brisbane and Singapore and onwards to Dubai when the runway works are completed at the end of September,” the airline affirms.
Emirates’ daily Airbus A380 flights (EK435/434) from Brisbane to Auckland in the mornings and Dubai in the evenings are unaffected and will operate as normal during this period.
Qantas flights between Brisbane and Singapore will also continue without interruption, which can be booked under an EK flight number and are available to passengers affected by Emirates’ own flight suspension.
Gulf neighbour and competitor Etihad Airways axed the Singapore detour from its Brisbane-Abu Dhabi flights in June 2015, making the route a permanent non-stop service using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
