PERTH CITY |
HILLARYS BOAT HARBOUR |
After wondering around for a while we stopped for a wonderful lunch.
We finished off the day by going to the Airport for a few hours.
Perth has a designated viewing area but it is only really good when runway 03 is in use as they are either landing right in front of you or taxiing past you for take off.
SOUTH AFRICAN A340-313 ZS-SXB (CN 582) |
While we were there a large group of teenage boys and girls turned up from the local flying school.
The senior pilot with them kept saying keep watching, keep watching the runway, thinking there was something special coming out my wife, daughter and I were all at the ready for something good.
It turned out one of the "Fire Tenders" came along and put on a show for the pilot want-a-be's.
These machines can hold 5,000lts of water and if needed can be pumped dry within 90 seconds.
Depending on water pressure, it can take 4-5mins to refill these tanks
Even the wild life came out for a look to see what was going on; this is a Quenda, a Southern Brown Short Nose Bandicoot
