Tyre shreds on our Air New Zealand 787

Yesterday, my wife and I flew from Brisbane (BNE/YBBN) to Auckland (AKL/NZAA) on Air New Zealand, marking my first time with the airline. The three-hour flight across the Tasman was smooth and uneventful until the top of descent, when the captain informed us we had shredded a tyre on departure from Brisbane. He reassured us not to worry, as there were three others on that side, and explained we’d be doing one circuit to allow separation from another aircraft. He also mentioned that if we see fire trucks upon landing, it was standard procedure. Touchdown was normal, though there was some vibration throughout the aircraft on our long roll through.
