Two aircraft collide in Madrid

RYAN AIR BOEING 787-8SA EI-EKK (MSN 38500)

A Ryanair flight, FR3814, operated by Malta Air, and an Air Europa flight, UX83, were involved in a ground contact collision at the holding point of runway 14R in Madrid (MAD/LEMD) a few days ago.
The Boeing 737-800, belonging to Ryan Air was taxiing for departure to Bologna-Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ/LIPE) and struck its right winglet with the Air Europa Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that was about to depart to Salvador-Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães International Airport, BA (SSA/SBSV)
Both aircraft returned to the apron.

Ryan Air FR3814 (Air Malta) was due to depart at 15.50 (local time) for Bologna, but due to returning to the gate, it didn't get away until 19.42, just under 4 hours later, arriving in Bologna at 21.30 instead of 18.10. The replacement aircraft was EI-DPR.


AIR EUROPA BOEING 737-85P EC-LXV (MSN 36594)

Air Europa UX83 was due to depart at 15.25 (local time) for Salvador, but due to returning to the gate, it didn't get away until 21.37, 6 hours 12 minutes later. Instead of arriving in Salvador at 20.30 it arrived at 01.40. The replacement 787-8 was EC-MMX.
