JETSTAR BOEING 787-8 VH-VKI (MSN 36235) |
Passengers cheered, joked and sang when a New South Wales woman was kicked off a plane for allegedly being too drunk.
The Lennox Heads woman has been charged with disorderly conduct over her alleged behaviour on the Jetstar plane at Gold Coast Airport on Sunday.
Social media footage shows about five police officers arresting her, with one picking her up from her seat.
“Come on, mum, get off,” a man is heard to say in the footage.
As she is escorted off the plane, passengers broke out into an impromptu rendition of Steam’s 1969 classic “Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye) “, as well as cheering and clapping.
“We requested the assistance of the Australian Federal Police after a passenger became increasingly disruptive prior to departure and refused to follow crew instructions,” Jetstar said in a statement.
“The safety of our customers and crew is our number one priority and we have zero tolerance for disruptive behaviour.”
Federal police allege the 42-year-old woman refused to leave the plane, which had been due to depart for Melbourne, when asked to by officers.
She was asked to leave “due to her alleged level of intoxication,” AFP said in a statement.
They charged her with “behaving in an offensive and disorderly manner on an aircraft”, which is a Commonwealth office.
If convicted, she faces a maximum $13,750 fine.
She is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on the 20th of March.
