Qantas schedules Darwin-Singapore with the Embraer 190

QANTASLINK EMBRAER E190AR VH-UZH (MSN 19000183)

While it's not bookable just yet, QantasLink has scheduled Darwin-Singapore, according to its latest schedule upload via OAG. To start on the 23rd of June 2023, it'll use the two-class, 97-seat Embraer 190s from Alliance Airlines, an operator it is acquiring. Quite a contrast to the A330-300s and 767-300ERs Qantas deployed when it served the route between 2005 and 2007!

It is hard to imagine long flights operated by regional jets – even by large RJs that stretch the conventional concept – but they do exist. The latest long route is QantasLink between Darwin and Singapore, some 2,095 miles (3,339km) apart, using Embraer 190s from Alliance Airlines. When it starts next year, it'll be the world's fifth-longest large Embraer route, with the 'elite club' also welcoming Porter.

The daily service is scheduled as follows, with all times local:
Darwin to Singapore: QF353, 18:20 - 21:40 (4h 50m)
Singapore to Darwin: QF354, 22:40 - 05:00 +1 (4h 50m)

Next year, QantasLink will compete head-to-head with an up to 5 weekly Singapore Airlines 737 MAX 8 service. Jetstar Asia ended this route in August 2022.

The world's longest Embraer route goes to Nigeria's Air Peace.
Since launching Lagos-Johannesburg in 2020, It has been operated by the 777-200ER, 777-300 and, naturally, the E195 E2 – as it currently is and will next summer.
It is by far the longest scheduled passenger flight by an Embraer aircraft.
