Air Canada restarts Vancouver to Brisbane flights

Air Canada is resuming direct flights from Vancouver International Airport to Brisbane International Airport starting on the 1st July. Air Canada's YVR/CYVR - BNE/YBBN route was halted in late 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Travellers from Vancouver wishing to head Down Under to Australia will now have an easier time with the return of direct flights to Brisbane.

The service, which will operate four days a week year-round, will be on board a 298-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Annually, the flights are expected to bring more than 60,000 people into the Australian state of Queensland.

The return of the Brisbane flights is part of an expansion of Air Canada’s flights to the South Pacific as governments begin easing travel restrictions.

The airline resumed daily flights to Sydney in early May and plans to resume flights to Auckland, New Zealand in November.

Vic Naughton, Air Canada’s general manager for Australia and New Zealand, said the new services will make Vancouver a convenient gateway to North America for travellers.

“Our new services not only provide more direct links to Canada, they also open up one of the fastest ways for Australians and Kiwis to reach New York and other key U.S. cities,” said Naughton in a statement following Air Canada’s announcement in March.

Services will arrive in Brisbane at 6.35am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and depart for Vancouver at 10.15pm the same days.
