American Eagle slids off runway
American Airlines flight AA4125 travelling from Greensboro/High Point-Piedmont Triad International Airport, NC (GSO/KGSO) to Chicago-O'Hare International Airport, IL (ORD/KORD) slid off the runway on landing at Chicago-O'Hare International Airport, Illinois early Monday due to icy conditions. The aircraft, an Embraer 145, landed on runway 10L and slid off the left side of the runway about 1600 m past the threshold near taxiway N1. The aircraft swung around and came to rest with the right-hand wing tip in the snow. All 38 passengers and three crew members were removed from the aircraft and transported safely back to the terminal, the airline confirmed. So far 189 flights had been canceled at O'Hare, while 93 flights were canceled at Midway International Airport due to the heavy snowy weather conditions.
