Airnorth launches Darwin to Alice Springs

Airnorth, (IATA code TL; ICAO ANO) owned by Skyport Group (55%), QTEC (31%) and John Gamble (14%) will link Darwin with Alice Springs via Katherine and Tennant Creek from October in what the airline describes as its new “Centre Run” service.
The airline was established in 1978 and started operations on 4 July that year. It operated charter flights only until scheduled services were introduced in 1981. It was formerly known as Air North International. In October 2003 Airnorth acquired the assets of Airlines of South Australia with the intention of gradually merging the two companies and operating under Airnorth's operating certificate. In March 2004 Airnorth acquired the assets of Emu Airlines but in 2005 sold off both ASA and Emu Airlines. Airnorth's fleet consists of the following aircraft:
  • 4 Embraer 170's
  • 5 Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia 
  • 3 Fairchild Metro 23's

Airnorth will operate their 30-seat Embraer EMB-120 Brasilia aircraft on a Darwin-Katherine-Tennant Creek-Alice Springs routing three times a week. The return service to Darwin will also stop in Tennant Creek and Katherine.

The first flight of the new service, which will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, takes off on October 19, with flight number TL 250 down and TL 251 returning. Timetable below .

Airnorth is a Qantas codeshare partner, so travellers will be able to earn Qantas frequent flyer points on th service.
