An airport worker who was seriously hurt in an accident in Montréal has since died from his injuries. The incident happened Monday night at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport when he was hit by a plane pushing back from the gate after tripping and falling on the tarmac.
According to a media release, the aircraft was a French Bee Airbus A350 bound for Paris. The man, later identified by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) was 39-year-old Oscar Robayo.Robayo worked for a ground-handling company Samsic. Canada’s Transportation Safety Board has deployed investigators to gather information and assess the occurrence.
Aéroports de Montréal (ADM), the airport operator, said emergency measures were deployed at around 19:30 local time following what it called an accident involving an aircraft and a member of the airport community. ADM said the employee was taken to a hospital, that airport operations continued, and that passengers should were asked to confirm schedules with their airlines.
The accident occurred as French bee Airbus A350-900 F-HREY was preparing to operate flight BF5761 from Montréal (YUL/CYUL) to Paris Orly Airport (ORY/LPFO). The service was scheduled to depart at 18:00 local time on the 24th of August 2026 but did not leave following the accident.
