Nothing kills the excitement of a vacation flight faster than settling into a dirty crusty seat, sticky substance on the tray back or discovering something lurking behind an airplane bathroom door. Cleanliness may not outrank safety or on-time arrivals, but in the real world of air travel, it still matters.
In the latest Skytrax ranking that saw 15 of the top 20 airlines based in Asia, EVA Air has been named the World’s Cleanest Airline at the 2025 World Airline Awards, placing first ahead of ANA All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways, and Singapore Airlines.
The annual ranking evaluates airlines on the standard and quality of cabin cleanliness, covering seat areas, tables, carpets, cabin panels, and washrooms. Results are determined by customer ratings collected across global markets.

Last month, my wife and I flew with EVA Air, STARLUX, and Asiana, and I can personally vouch that all their aircraft were spotless. The year before, we flew with China Airlines and Korean Air, and they made sure to clean their toilets thoroughly every two hours.
