The name change, announced to the public on the 10th of September, comes after the South Korean low-cost carrier was acquired by the Daemyung Sono Group in February 2025.

The new owners purchased a 46.26% equity stake that was previously controlled by a firm called Yea Rim Dang Publishing in a transaction that has been valued at 250 billion South Korean Won (US$174 million, AUS$271 million) With this deal, the Daemyung Sono Group, which already held a 26.77% stake in the airline, has acquired effective control of T’Way..

Once the Korean competition authorities approved the acquisition in June 2025, the majority of shareholder quickly ousted the current airline’s CEO. A replacement is anticipated to be chosen by a newly appointed board of directors.

The airline’s new name is inspired by the Latin word “Trinitas,” symbolizing three elements coming together as one. Rooted in Christian tradition, this idea reflects the Daemyung Sono Group’s goal of building a unified travel and hospitality division focused on three key areas: airlines, hotels, and resorts.

The Daemyung Sono Group is South Korea’s largest hospitality group, operating numerous hotels and resorts throughout its home country, as well as some recently acquired properties in the US and France. The company also controls a number of experiential resorts and holiday clubs in South Korea dedicated to sports and outdoor activities. In addition to the name change, the airline formerly known as T’Way will also be given a whole new corporate identity and livery starting in early 2026.

T’Way, which was founded on the 1st of April 2005 and commenced operations on the13th of August 2005, operate both short and long-haul routes under a low-cost business model. According to data sourced on the internet, as of September 2025 it has a fleet of 44 aircraft. These include
  • 6 Airbus A330-200,
  • 5 A330-300s,
  • 5 Boeing 737 MAX 8,
  • 26 Boeing 737-800s and
  • 2 Boeing 777-300ER.
T’Way is also awaiting the delivery of
  • five new A330-900neos and
  • one additional B737 MAX 8.

This might not be the final move by Daemyung Sono Group in the airline industry. Back in October 2024, the hospitality company picked up an 11% equity stake in another Korean airline, Air Premia. Reports from Korean media suggest this investment could be a steppingstone toward acquiring a majority stake in Air Premia.
