Turkish Airlines makes an emergency landing due to engine fire.

A Turkish Airlines flight travelling from Kayseri Erkilet International Airport (ASR/LTAU) to Istanbul Airport (IST/LTFM) had to return to its origin due to an engine fire. Turkish Airlines flight TK2015, a Boeing 737-900ER, suffered a bird strike to the no.1 engine after takeoff.

The aircraft departed from runway 25 at 6:28 p.m. however, shortly after takeoff, a loud banging noise was heard, followed by slight vibrations, and then the left engine caught fire.




The pilots declared an emergency, and after performing 3 holding patterns while dumping fuel, it made an emergency landing at back Kayseri Airport. The plane’s airborne time is 36 mins, and it landed back on runway 25 in Kayseri at 7:04 p.m.
