Ten people killed in fiery crash

Ten people have died in a fiery crash involving a twin-engine Beechcraft King Air after the plane hit a hangar at an airport north of Dallas, Texas. The crash of the BE-350 King Air in Texas, which happened on Sunday 30th June, comes less than two weeks after a Skydiving crash in Hawaii killed 11 in what was the worst civilian aviation accident in the US since 2011. A Beechcraft 65-A90 King Air operated by the Oahu Parachute Center veered to the left and crashed on take-off, ending up inverted and on fire near an airport fence. In the latest tragedy, the plane was taking off from runway 15 about 9 am local time on Sunday from Dallas-Addison Airport (ADS/KADS), about 20 miles north of Dallas, when it plowed into the hangar and burst into flames. Witnesses reported the plane headed for St. Petersburg-Albert Whitted Airport, FL (SPG/KSPG), had just lifted off when it lost power and veered left into the hangar. Officials confirmed everyone on the plane died. “He got onto the runway, went down the runway, started taking off,” witness Peter Drake told reporters. “He got to about 200 feet, and I saw him starting to lose power and his altitude, and then I see him just roll over and came straight down right into the building.” Another witness, pilot David Snell, told the TV station the tragedy happened quickly. “It all happened over the course of about 10 seconds, and it went from watching an airplane trying to climb and fly to a huge fireball with debris everywhere. It was really awful,” Snell said. “I’ve flown for 33 years, I’ve heard of crashes and stuff like that, I’ve never witnessed one with a bigger airplane. “That was really a horrific thing to see because somebody’s life, lives, family’s lives were forever changed, it’s awful.” The US National Transportation Safety Board sent a go-team to the crash site as local authorities worked to notify the families of victims.
