The B787-9 pushed back from the gate on time just after 5pm local time and taxied out for a runway 03 departure. At 5.07pm EY487 got airborne and set course for its home country of United Arab Emirates. Flying up the Western Australian coastline it was climbing to its cruising altitude, as it reached Flt Lvl 285 it descended to Flt Lvl 260 and held that altitude for a while. At Geraldton it turned back and headed for Perth. One hour and forty five minutes later at 6.51 local time EY487 landed on runway 03.
